Vail Farm's PTA has so many wonderful programs and fun events!
Each of these programs is run by committees made up of volunteers like you!
There are so many levels of participation and ways to get involved. The success of our programs depends on our terrific volunteers!

Arts/Science in Education (year round): This committee brainstorms ways to enhance the "hands on" approach to enriching our students' educations.
Book Fair : The chairs will need help with setting up for this event on the Friday before and the Friday after. The school also needs volunteers to work the cash register in two-hour shifts after school. Chairs: Kim Kraska and Taralynn Calise
Box Tops for Education (year round): Be sure to save those box tops! They are worth money for Vail Farm! The chair can use help with prizes and counting box tops throughout the year. Chair: Renei Orgen
Family Fun Day Baskets : An afternoon during which families come to play games and bid on awesome baskets put together by our families. The committee needs help in displaying the baskets during lunch hours the week before, and selling tickets the day of the event. Chair: Jen McComb
Follies: (April 27): Our very own talent show students in all grades can show off their hidden skills! The chair needs assistance to organize the event, set up, help the acts back stage, supply and staff the bake sale, and other miscellaneous duties. Chairs: Ginny and Mark Zisa
Hands On Science: A one day event. The committee needs only to copy a few forms for distribution to the students and to be available during the few hours of the event.
Holiday Fair (December 4-6): A Vail Farm favorite! Students shop, create, and wrap holiday gifts independently (with elf helpers), while parents enjoy hot chocolate and snacks. Volunteers are needed in a variety of areas, ranging from creating unique gifts, baking, assisting the students during the event, setting up, and cleaning up. Chair: Ginny Zisa
Hospitality (year-round): Fire Fighters' Breakfast, Reflections Ceremony, Holiday Fair, District Board of Education Meeting at our school (usually one evening.) This committee provides refreshments at all of these events, and may be called upon to help with refreshments and soliciting baked goods/snack donations at other events throughout the year as well. Math Madness (January 24, snow date January 31): Come back to school with your kids to enjoy an evening of playing math games. A good time had by all! Committee chairs need help with running games during the event, baking, and perhaps throwing out an idea or two for a game. Chair: Jessica Marinace-Barre
Membership All year, mostly in beginning of year. Sells membership cards, prints forms, collects dues & is in charge all of PTA members! Chair: Karen Mowbray
Parents as Reading Partners (PARP) (January 30, 2014-February 25, 2014) Another popular VF event! Children pledge to read/be read to each night for prizes. Volunteers are needed in a variety of areas from creating decorations, decorating the school (usually the Friday before the first day of to record student progress, and tallying the results each week. Chair: Mercedes Perreiro
Reflections: (deadline October): Reflections is a nationally recognized arts program. Each year's program has a new theme. Your child can create a drawing, painting, dance, movie, story, musical composition, poem, and/or photograph. This committee meets once and communicates via email. Assistance ranges from simply making copies to working with the PowerPoint presentation of the students' entries and planning a reception to display and acknowledge students' work. Chair: Lori Vore
School Photos (October and Spring): This committee needs volunteers to work in shifts helping the classes get that perfect shot!
Science Fair (March 14, 2014) : This exciting event has a wonderful turnout each year. Kids put their scientific skills to the test as they hypothesize and test theories. There are a few meetings before the event to help with, or volunteers can help at the fair by listening to the students explain their wonderful projects! Chairs: Jody Milholm, Vicky Damman and Alethea McMorris
Staff Appreciation (May 6 - 10, 2013): Help show the teachers and staff how much we value them! This committee works to create a wonderful luncheon and fun goodies during the week and throughout the year to honor our staff. (NEEDS CHAIR 2012-2013) Chair: Ruby Sultzer
Ways and Means (year round): Fundraising! Through this committee, the PTA raises money to provide these fabulous programs for our students. The committee needs help in organizing and distributing products that are sold.
Yearbook/Scrapbooking (year round): Photographers are needed to help capture the year on film, as well as to scrapbook pictures in the school's scrapbook, located in the VFES lobby. Chair: Debbie Strehl
Spirit Wear (year round): We need help getting our school spirit out there. We sell VFES logo-emblazoned items a few afternoons throughout the year, and at different events. Volunteers are needed to help with the sales. Chair: Gina Coelho
Bingo (October 25, 2012; February 13, 2013): We need help ranging from callers to providers of prizes and food. It's a great evening out and the kids love Bingo night! Chair: Jess Morandi
Ice Cream Social (Jun. 10, 2013): Come back to enjoy a few scoops on us while enjoying music and dancing. Scoopers are needed for the social.
